David Foster

Civil litigation attorney David J. Foster primarily focuses on personal injury and wrongful death cases, but also handles premises and product liability cases as well.

In his quest to seek justice for those suffering from medical malpractice and slip and fall injuries to injuries from products liability and dram shop liability, Foster obtained what was at the time the two largest civil personal injury verdicts in Cumberland County history, and has since obtained numerous million-dollar civil settlements.

Although Foster's civil litigation achievements are well known, he also has handled many high profile criminal cases in state and federal courts, including death penalty cases in Cumberland, Berks and Snyder counties, as well as non-death penalty homicide cases in Dauphin County, York County, Cumberland County, Perry County, Schuylkill County, Franklin County.

While primarily known for his expertise in personal injury and wrongful death cases, Foster is also an accomplished appellate attorney, who successfully overturned numerous death and non-death penalty cases throughout Pennsylvania. Foster utilized DNA evidence in the cases of Barry Laughman, and William Kelley, who had been wrongly convicted of separate homicide cases in Adams County in 1988 and in Dauphin County in 1990 respectively. Both men were freed thanks to Foster's hard work and unrelenting thirst for justice.

Foster joined the law firm of William Costopoulos and Leslie Fields in 1976 after graduating from the Dickinson School of Law (now a Penn State affiliate). He graduated in from Lehigh University 1972 with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, and is a member of the bar of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court; United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit; United States District Court, Middle District; Cumberland County Bar Association; Pennsylvania Bar Association; American Association for Justice; Pennsylvania Association for Justice; and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
